       Highlights of the Collection  Most likely commissioned by a Mamluk dignitary






            from Cairo or Damascus, this large-format manuscript
            contains the last part, or juz, of a Quran in several
       Louvre Abu Dhabi   volumes. The Basmala (“In the name of God, the Most
            Gracious, the Most Merciful”) which introduces each
            surah is written in calligraphic letters of gold, in an
            elegant cursive muhaqqaq style.
