                                                                      The chronicles of the Babylonian kings were originally
                                                                      written in the 4th century BCE. Translated into
                                                                      French and richly illustrated, this version was offered
                                                                      as a “book of love”, in the tradition of medieval
       Highlights of the Collection                                   engagement gifts. It was intended for Anne de Graville,

                                                                      a lady-in-waiting of the wife of the King of France,
                                                                      Francis I, and daughter of one of the greatest French
                                                                      bibliophiles of the Renaissance.
