Mirror case:
hunting with falcons

In the 14th century, mirrored boxes made of two
interlocking parts enjoyed great success among ladies
of the court. Often exchanged between lovers, they
feature scenes from courtly literature. In this case, four
riders are depicted in a forest hunting with a falcon.

This scene represents one of the most widespread
metaphors of the quest for love.
